I don’t think that a strong character is strong because they know how to kick ass, my character knows how to kick ass because I like to read/write about people who can kick ass.

…just a response for some people out there who ask whether I think strong characters should know how to kick ass. 

Well, the answer is NO. 

What I mean by the term “strong character” is not a character that can fight their way through a rough crowd by their pinkies, no.

A strong character is one that can stand by his or herself in a story, that draws the reader by way of feelings or thoughts, who provokes and captures attention and contributes to the story.

Not because they can do martial arts, or handle a sword or can lose a limb without crying.
